The Origin of Golf
Based in Houston, Texas, David Guion has served as the executive managing director at Cushman and Wakefield since 2006, where he represents tenants in complex real estate requirements with his 20 years of experience in real estate law. In his spare time, David Guion enjoys playing golf at the Houston Country Club, as well as other clubs all around the country.
Many people play golf, but few may know where it actually comes from. Golf originated in the eastern coast of Scotland, near modern Edinburgh, during the 15th century. In the original game, the players would try to hit pebbles over sand dunes using clubs or bent sticks. The game became so popular that people chose to play golf rather than do their military training, which led to King James II banning the sport in 1457.
While the ban was largely ignored amongst the common folk, the game experienced an official resurgence in 1502, when King James IV approved it, himself being a fan of the sport.
